Tour of Catherine the Great Palace

This was a beautiful tour! Most of this palace had been destroyed during WWII. However, with the assistance of many craftsman it has been restored to the beauty it is today. The tall blue tiled structures you see in some of the rooms were used for heating the room. We're not sure how they worked but our theory is that gases would come up from the floor and heat the tiles.
The gardens were absolutely beautiful! We are going to tour next spring when all the flowers are in bloom. There are other structures throughout the garden such as a "Cold Bath, Turkish Bath, Oriental building, and more. We will be taking more pictures next spring and put on the blog for your viewing pleasure!
Enjoy the "tour." Much more history of this palace is found on the internet. Very interesting history.
